This program seeks to promote gender sensitive agricultural policies and programs in Uganda.  CEEWA-U is trying to achieve this through gender focused research and advocacy. CEEWA-Uganda  has used its research on agricultural extension to feed into National Agricultural Advisory Services  (NAADS) Program.

CEEWA-U recognizes the special need to boost the position of women who make up over 70% of  the Agricultural labor force yet often lack control over economic resources namely land,  agricultural information, skills and capital necessary to improve their agricultural output. The  organization's focus on agricultural advisory services came after careful research and  consideration. Agricultural advisory services were chosen as an advocacy area following extensive  research and discussions. CEEWA-U undertook several studies, which were critical in providing  much needed information, which was used to lobby Government on the issues of gender and  agricultural extension and advisory services. It was through the possession of such relevant  information that CEEWA-U managed to get a place on the NAADS Task Force which worked on  different elements that would form NAADS, a programme under the PMA

 Achievements
 a) "CEEWA-U participated in the formulation of the National Agricultural Advisory Services by  sitting on the NAADS Task Force. This provided an opportunity for CEEWA-U to share her well- researched views with the members and to influence the agenda with regards to gender and  advisory services. Some of the recommendations from CEEWA-U were taken on board by NAADS,  as shown in the Master Document of the NAADS Task Force and Joint Donor Groups (2002) which  notes gender mainstreaming as one of NAADS overriding principles.

CEEWA-U members managed to serve on the NAADS National Core Team in a strategic bid to  ensure that gender was incorporated in the sensitisation workshops that were being carried out  across the country. The Core team was responsible for the sensitisation at district level and thus  played an important role in informing people about NAADS. It was through this interaction that  CEEWA-U observed the need for a gender-training module, which it developed. The module was  used in subsequent NAADS sensitisations.

 b) "CEEWA-U undertook a gender analysis of the NAADS Programme in 2002. The analysis  brought out some key concerns in its implementation and their likely impacts on male and  female farmers and the programme as a whole. The results of the analysis indicated that the  most vulnerable farmers who include women, youth and people with disabilities needed special  attention and targeting in order to effectively participate and benefit from NAADS.
